While serving his Marine Engineering apprenticeship in a Glasgow shipyard, he diversified, this led him to perform as a vocalist with his band the ‘’Crescendos’’ and later with various show bands while still in Scotland.
Since his arrival in Australia , Johnny has established himself as a well respected and talented performer. Utilising his trumpet and vocal talents to entertain a wide range of audiences, endearing them with his warm personality and good humour which he uses to the full while delivering his hilarious comedy stories with a voice just like Sean Connery and sometimes Billy Connolly.

John Campbell aka Con Shawnery was engaged by CPNSW to provide entertainment for our prestigious annual CPNSW Newspaper Awards Dinner. This event is attended by the glitterati of the Regional Press industry to honour the achievements of those involved in the regional newspaper industry.
Con Shawnery gave our evening a lift with soft music during dinner and with a wonderful array of foot tapping favourites that had our patrons out of their seats dancing later on. There was something for everyone and Shawnery picked the mood of the crowd impeccably.
